The Story
200 years ago, the German philologists Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm published the first edition of their famous anthology of fairy tales: the Kinder- und Hausmärchen. Since then, there have been dozens of interpretations of those stories, and artists have created countless works based on them.
With this new series, that was conceived together with Theresa Glanzberg and Christina Wöllner, we are seeing the classic fairy tales in a different and modern context, with hints at women's liberation, but with a slightly ironic touch. A lot of conceptual work was necessary to prepare the different scenes and sets, six in total, recreating some of the most famous tales of the anthology. Red Riding Hood and Snow White were produced in 2012 and 2013, Sleeping Beauty and the remaining three stories are staged in the first half of 2014.
