Mixotarians (All You Can Eat) - 2014

Production notes

The staged photographic series Mixotarians is an ironical answer
to a new trend in hipster society: people pretend to be vegetarians
(or vegans) when in public, but as soon as they are in their private homes they revert to conventional nutrition habits, i.e. they are eating non-vegetarian food. A strange phenomenon that reveals much of the character of the so-called hipsterism, which appears like a house of cards that‘s falling apart at the faintest gust of wind.

Each picture of the series shows a person with „vegetarian“ head gear sitting at a table and about to eat a non-vegetarian dish. The expression of the portrayed person is very clear and earnest, yet the staged situation shows a certain amount of surrealism -
leaving it up to the viewer to decide what‘s „right or wrong“.

90x90 cm, inkjet print.
Edition of 4.
