The Final Chapter - 2014
"He had been sitting in front of the typewriter way too long. And when I came home that day, Jack was in his delirious mood again. Holding on to his whisky, he was all but a blend of despair and anger."
"I hated him on days like this. I loved him on most others."
"Suddenly he stood up and crossed the room, yelling at me - in an however mild and broken voice - and trying to sell the idea of his story, as if I were his publisher. The story that wouldn't end. The story that he couldn't bring to an end. That confounded story."
"I then told him about the idea of cheering up his life and senses - in an unusual way."
"'We should invite a friend', I suggested. 'She'll change the way you see things. Word!'"
"At first, Jack was a bit hesitant, but curios at the same time. I hoped to help him overcome the blockade that kept him from finishing the last chapter of his novel."
"So, I rang up Charlie and asked her if our 'deal' was still valid. She confirmed and said that we should come over to her apartment."
"She had put on her 'seductive gear', quite according to our plan. We wanted to help Jack remember the funny things people can do together in bed."
"But honestly, it didn't work out the way we had conceived it. The moment when Charlie saw Jack, I guess she quietly changed the plan - and discarded the idea of making love with me. Her eyes were fixed on him, only."
"Jack, on the other hand and after having been very passive in the beginning, saw the opportunity and went away with Charlie."
"For at least an hour, I was paralyzed by the events. But a few days later, Jack came back and told me he had finished the chapter."
